Benton County Reading Council
Educators and parents interested in promoting literacy in Benton County.
The Benton County Reading Council promotes reading with the Mother Goose Book Club, Celebrate Literacy book writing competition and Book Fairs. In addition, educators participate in informative sessions during the year which are used as staff development opportunities.
The Mother Goose Book Club allows parents, friends, and relatives to buy a book in a child's honor. A picture and name plate are placed in the book and presented to the student. The book is placed in the library for all to enjoy.
For the Celebrate Literacy book writing competition, students become authors. They write, illustrate and bind their own books. Each year, in May, student winners are honored at a Reading Association banquet.
The Benton County Reading Council is a local chapter of the Tennessee Reading Association and the International Reading Association.
